Whether you’re on the Kanye train or not, you cannot deny this man’s work ethic. Arguably, genius if you will. Taking to social media last week, Kanye announced he will be putting on his first ever opera. Nebuchadnezzar comes from Babylon’s longest reigning king and Kanye fits that perfectly. The program will be led by Italian performance artist Vanessa Beecroft and held at the Hollywood Bowl, November 24. Kanye’s ‘Sunday Service’ choir are set to perform as well.
Prior to his Jesus is King LP, Kanye mentioned works of the opera in an interview with Zane Lowe. Touching bases on his upcoming Yeezus tour, Ye had this to say about Nebuchadnezzar:
“[God] is saying, Let me take this Nebuchadnezzar-type character—Nebuchadnezzar was the king of Babylon, and he looked at his entire kingdom and said, I did this,” West said, adding, “I stood on the top of the mountain talking about Yeezus, saying, ‘I’m a God’—I had a guy dressed as Jesus.”
Tickets for the opera goes on sale today.
